A SHARP-TOOTHED COMIC DRAMA WITH A WHOLE LOT TO SAY! ‘Gloria’ is to the New York publishing business what David Mamet’s ‘Speed-the-Plow’ is to the Hollywood film industry.” –THE NEW YORK TIMES "An ambitious group of editorial assistants at a prestigious Manhattan-based literary magazine are each chasing the same dream: a life as successful writers—and to get out of their cubicles before they turn thirty. When a regular day at the office suddenly becomes anything but, the stakes for who will get to tell the career-making story are higher than ever."

Hilary played Flirt Conroy in Eclipse Theatre's 2018 production of The Dark at the Top of the Stairs by William Inge, directed by Jerrell Henderson. From Eclipse:
"The 2018 William Inge Season concludes with the moving family drama, The Dark at the Top of the Stairs. The setting is a small Oklahoma town in the early 1920s and the home of the Flood family. Here we find Rubin, a traveling salesman for a harness firm; Cora, his sensitive and lovely wife; Sonny, their little boy; and Reenie, their teenage daughter. A series of short stories unfolds - the fight between a husband and wife; the fear of an overly shy young girl on going to a dance; the problems of an introverted little boy who feels that the whole world is against him; the corroding marriage of Cora's rowdy sister; and the tragedy of a military school cadet who suffers from the stigma of being a Jew in an alien community. There is dark at the top of everyone's stairs, but it can be dissipated by understanding, tolerance and compassion."
Directed by Jerrell Henderson, November 15 – December 16, 2018, The Athenaeum Theatre, 2936 N. Southport Ave. Chicago, IL
Opening Nights November 18 at 3:00 pm, November 20 at 7:30 pm
Runs Thursday, Friday & Saturday at 7:30 pm; Saturday & Sunday at 2:00 pm

1/1/2018 - Understudying the world premiere of Hinter by Calamity West with Steep Theatre
Hilary understudied the world premiere of Hinter, written by Calamity West and produced by Steep Theatre in Chicago. From Steep:
"Whispers and rumors had been swirling around the Gruber family farm long before the bodies were discovered on that cold April day. It's 1922, and a remote community in Bavaria is reeling in the aftermath of World War I: gender roles are shifting, a generation gap is emerging, and farmers are battling poverty in the shadow of a growing urban intelligentsia. Inspired by a chilling and true unsolved crime, Hinter is a darkly comic thriller by one of Chicago’s most exciting new playwrights." Directed by Brad DeFabo Akin. January 25th - March 3rd, 2018 |

"The Signal" Short Film - September, 2017
|
Filmed in Chicago, IL in 2017, "The Signal" is a short film produced for the CineSpace/Houston Cinema Arts Film Festival. Written and directed by Joe Wintruba.
"In the near future NASA launched a mission to explore the origins of a transmission emitting from deep space. Katherine Ellis, the team's leader is the only member to leave behind a wife and child. An interview team now speaks with those she left behind, to try and understand the reasoning for her decision." |
Bechdel Fest 5 with Broken Nose Theatre - September, 2017
"The fifth annual Bechdel Fest, subtitled “Identity Crisis,” is here! Featuring eight short plays predominantly written and directed by Chicago-based female artists, the slate of stories centers around an array of diverse and powerful women wrestling with the questions that define them and fighting for the world to see them as they are. All tickets are Pay-What-You-Can, with performances hosted at The Den Theatre, 1331 N. Milwaukee Ave, September 10 – 13."
Along with Meredith Ernst, Hilary had the greatest pleasure of hosting Bechdel Fest 5 this summer with the Broken Nose Theatre, an evening of original one-act plays that all pass the Bechdel Test (there are 1. Two women in the piece, who 2. Speak to each other, about 3. Something besides a man). Kick ass! |
